To check out: Roll and Cut Sugar Cookies

Cookie Decorating Tip: Maybe I am the last one on the planet to find this out:

I spent the weekend with dear SIL Christmas shopping. We stopped at Borders and I bought the Cuisine Cookie magazine that is out now. It said when decorating cutouts with colored sugar--on the baked and cooled cookie--first lightly paint the portion of the cookie to be coated with warmed light corn syrup--HOW CLEVER! I never knew this, I always sprinkled by cookies BEFORE baking and most of the sugar would then fall off.

Has anyone tried this?

Another tip if you have/make easy-peasy fondant: Use your cookie cutter

to cut out the same pattern and glue the form on the cooled baked cookie. Gives a perfect finish and you can even tint them, make impressions on the fondant, stack the fondant with various colors, etc.
