Hi guys...

I just saw your post on the gold lettering in the fondant-covered cookie below. Here's how it works:

1. Pipe lettering (or whatever decoration) with Royal Icing.

Let harden.

2. Moisten edible "gold luster dust" powder (see link in subpost) with a few drops of lemon extract (or vodka) to make a thin ink/paint. Carefully brush on hardened icing.

Wa-la! You have gold lettering.

There is also a "gold luster" bottled product that already has the liquid medium in it.

Finally, there are pages of edible gold leaf that I'm sure you have seen pieces pressed on fine chocolates.

I have all of these, but haven't really played around with any of them. Always thought it would be nice to replicate an illuminated callligraphy piece with edible food.
