Too Fun Not To Share - Velvet Elvis in a Cloud...

When the ACF came back in Spring to look at certifying our program, they noticed that we didn't spend any time on sandwiches. So they decided to incorporate sandwiches into our curriculum for Table Service - yes here we are learning how to do fancy table service and yet we are doing the humble sandwich. So we had to turn in a recipe and side dish for a hot sandwich and a cold sandwich. But Chef didn't seem to like any of them and we have to start over (personally I still think my Pan Bagnat and Mozzarella en Corrozzo are both very legit and commerical sandwiches since I have had them at sandwich shops in Europe, as were my Pappa e Pomodoro soup and Wild Rice & Orzo Salad good commerical side dishes, heck one even came from J. Alexander's restaurant!) - he said for the most part the recipes turned in were way to 'home cook' rather than commercial. He said to go look on the internet at sandwich shop menus to get ideas.

Anyway, so here I am searching for something I can put a twist on to make it mine. So I know one place to have some fun - Peanut Butter & Co. in NYC. Since I couldn't stand the idea of just going with a traditional sandwich, I had to play around and came up with this one. It's really quite good so try it for some fun....I guarantee you that the kids will like this.

VELVET ELVIS IN A CLOUD

Spread one piece of white sandwich bread with chocolate peanut butter (the Velvet). Place a layer of banana slices (the Elvis touch) on the peanut butter. Spread the second piece of bread with Fluff (the Cloud). Butter both outsides of the bread and grill on each side until lightly browned (the other Elvis touch). Cut in half and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Enjoy!

Only problem is I can't figure what side to put with it because it's really almost a dessert - maybe a big vanilla shake smileys/smile.gif

I do a similar sandwich using Nutella, natural PB, and marshmellow fluff. It is so good toasted!! ..

I eat this when I can't find anything to eat to satisfy my sweet tooth cravings!! BTW< best if served on homemade oatmeal bread or whole grain bread so you don't feel quite so guilty!!! LOL...Steph

Silly indeed.....

but it has given the radio talk show hosts something to talk about.
Gotta laugh about our state government hijinks!
