I've looked and looked in the FAQ section of Facebook and other places, but have never been able to answer 2 very simple questions. Has anyone had experience with it enough to know:

1- If I approve a Friend-Request, that makes me his/her friend, but then is she my friend too (i.e. is it reciprocal)? She doesn't show up on my "Friends" list on my wall. Or am I just on hers?

2- Can my friends see what I post on other people's walls?

3- Has anyone ever gotten things that look like genuine messages from FB but are actually spams?

I think...

1. He/she has sent you a "Friend" request. If you accept the request he/she should then be in your Friend list. You may have to log out of Facebook and log back in to see the Friend.

2. Only if your Friend is also a friend of the other. If I saw every time my "friends" commented on someone else's Facebook posting I would not be on Facebook!

3. I have only gotten messages from people I know. I have gotten "Friend" requests from women in Shanghai. But they were seriously barking up the wrong tree!!

 
I have to disagree with 2 and 3, Michael

My biggest issue with FB is that you can see what is posted unless you specifically check each friend's settings to not see everything. So if you and I are friends but you post on someone else's wall, unless I have checked not to see all your comments it will show up either in the ticker or in the newsfeed or both.

I actually had this happen tonight. I was trying to figure out who this guy was announcing they were having a baby when I finally realized it was a friend of a friend. My friend had commented on their post and it popped up in my feed.

Also, I have received several notices from "facebook" telling me they need to update or confirm my account or that I have a PM from so and so and to click the link, but it's bogus. Instead of clicking the link I go to FB and check my messages and nothing is there.

Same for the "like this picture and FB will donate $X to their medical bills".

 
For 2 you are correct. Seems all my friends are egotistical and only post what's on their minds..LOL

I looked back on my messages and they are all from Friends. Luckily I have not been added to the spam list.

 
Well, this is wierd, then. Thanks for the replies, but 3 ppl have sent me

friend-requests (a month ago, all within the same week or so) and I approved them. They don't show up on my page (even though I have logged in and out a lot since then) and they swear they didn't sent me a friend-request. Not malicious spam, but I do think I got on some sort of "invite people from your email list" somehow.

I am glad to know you can limit who sees what, but don't know all the terms. Newsfeed? Ticker? I don't think those show up on my page!
