Traca, I may have missed it...But were you able to attend the dinner en blanc?

I didn't end up going. Broke my foot and cracked my tooth down the the root. I was in

no shape to participate. Bummer. Fingers crossed for next year. PS. Side note. Finding a white outfit in August is a PITA. Just sayin....

Oh my! What a bummer! Wishing you a speedy recovery! At least you have an outfit for next yr!

Oh that is a shame......best wishes for a fast heal on that foot,

fixing broken teeth is not inexpensive either. I just did it and was shocked. I lost a crown at the same time but dentist was able to put it back on. Still a shocker at the cost.

I fell at work so in theory, it's all covered by L&I. I've got an attorney at the ready if it's not!

Am so sorry to hear of your mishap, Traca. How awful! I was just wondering last week about your

Diner En Blanc, but simply assumed I had missed your write-up somehow. U must have really taken a tumble to do such a number on both your foot and on your tooth. May you get well soon!

Oh Traca. Your life sure isn't dull. This is most unfortunate and will probably mean a

delay to your Mediterranean cook stint.

I guess the foot will heal in time but I sure hope the tooth repair goes smoothly. That nasty body part that doesn't heal itself.

hugs

The irony? I slipped on a pile of breadcrumbs at work. Dried, they turn into little marbles. The

tooth is a total loss. The dentist says it's broken straight through the "crotch" of my back tooth (#30) all the way to the root. No option but extraction and an implant. I sat in his chair and cried. Fortunately he took 3 kinds of photos and could show me the extent of the damage. It's a riff like the Grand Canyon. Somehow the visual makes it much easier to accept. And he said, "There's nothing holding your tooth together except the gums."

The foot will heal. Given the momentum and where I fell (in the hallway coming out of the back room of the restaurant) I'm very fortunate I didn't do more damage. I'm also lucky it's my left foot so I can still drive. And I'm rethinking my "single girl pride." What the heck would I do if it was worse...and I couldn't drive myself to the slew of doctor's appointments? Time to re-think my independent stance. smileys/smile.gif

Oh, I am so sorry! On bread crumbs, of all things....

I cannot even imagine the pain, I shiver just to think of it, but I hope that your work insurance will cover all your expenses, dental repair work is not cheap at all

sending you the best possible vibes for a speedy recovery!

I will now have more respect for bread crumbs. How bizarre for a back tooth to go in a fall.

Independence, whether forced or elected, can be truly sobering. And it takes only one incident.

I hope you have some friends handy for the moment, at least. Good point about the left foot. I remember having trouble with my foot when I drove a stick. Hail to the automatics.

Ha! Fortunately I'm in a walking boot. At least for this break, no crutches required. Thank goodness

Good luck with the healing, Traca. I hope your workman's comp is as good as mine was..

I fell at school in January (at a robotics tournament I was running, could it be worse?), broke my right knee and tore everything inside it. My doctor was great, the surgeon was great, and the rehab was far better and longer than I got through my own insurance when I tore the meniscus of the other knee the year before. My daughter just got very tired of driving me around. (Maybe that's why she moved to New Orleans?) Keep that lawyer's number close just in case, though. Healing vibes coming your way.
