Guess the Midwest is getting hit pretty good too. Looks like you had a good warning, take care!

We are calm here, real cold, but nice.

Nan

It's heading my way next...

so we have loaded the log rack, replenished the kindling, and I have a big pot of beef stew cooking.
May not bother with work tomorrow if there's too much gook on the roads!

They were saying a few days ago, it would just hit the NW and spread out! Take care my friend. But

the good new was Georgia got RAIN!!! That and cooler temps should save their bu***.

Being a sailor, I watch the weather when I haven't been out for months, and never know where I'm headed till last minute.

Stay warm and safe,
Nan

I heard something last night about big storm headed to the NE, glad you have

all your snuggy supplies. stay safe and warm.

Predictions are anywhere from 3" up to 12".

You know those weather guys....wish I could get paid what they do for being wrong 50% of the time!
Anyway, we have firewood, shovels, gas for the snowblower, food and beer. We are prepared!

Ugh...I was at a friend's yesterday, having a lovely brunch. Then I took a look out the window...

the weather had come in so fast, there was only about 50 yards of visibility. Since she lives on top of a steep hill, I was worried about getting down it if things got icy, so I got the heck out of there in a hurry.

I live on top of a steep hill too and luckily I was able to get my car up. Now I'm worried about the winds. Last year wind knocked out my power for 8 days. I ended up staying with friends most of the time, but it was a huge pain.

I'm from the midwest and used to snow, but it's a whole different story here. With the hilly terrain, and things easily turning to ice, a couple inches here cause tons of havoc.

OMG...they closed my office this morning! We've had so much rain the complex was flooding. Water

was literally flowing over the curbs, streets were flooded. They've closed some of the freeway off-ramps, portions of the main freeway are closed (I-5), and mudslides. I literally saw a waterfall off the side of the freeway on my way to work today.

The problem is, it's also unseasonably warm and it's melting all our early mountain snowfall. So that, along with the buckets of rain (Sunday & Monday) and snow (Saturday)...they say this is the worst it's been in recorded history.

Unfortunately, there's more rain forecasted tonight. And on the news they said it takes about 36 hours for the snowmelt to impact the rivers. Yowza.

I hope you all are doing well in AK and OR. I dread thinking about Nan out there on the water, but it's probably nothing compared to those conditions in the Bearing Sea!

I am home and fine, but really worried about you guys!!!! It is still clear and

cold here.
Hate to say this, but Friday I meet a vessel in Freeport,Bahamas

Hope Randi and Julie and all are able to check in.
How is everyone in the Northeast, buried in smow?

I am going to e-mail my other company in Ballard and see how they fared.

Stay safe and strong all,
Nan

I just got a call to stay home again this morning. The management company closed the office complex

Luckily our building specifically has not been affected (as far as I know) and we're on the 2nd floor. Unfortunately I work for a magazine and we're getting ready to go to print. Timing is critical. We're going to have to get back in the building soon.

Bahamas. LOL! Sounds lovely...will you be going through Panama? I've always wanted to go through the canal.

Going to work, the usual port is Mobile AL.Was through the canal '92, very cool experience.Take Care

we're still dealing with it here, what a mess!!! our home has been fine and there's no

damage there, just power blips and an outage this morning for over an hour. electric out to the south of us for 2 days, to the north it will be 4 days before they get their's back.

we're cut off from the rest of the world. east/west hwys closed due to fallen trees, floods and slides. coast hwy is to be traveled with caution. 50% of Oregon's rivers are flooding.

finally got to the office yesterday afternoon to find water from the front door to the back wall. the high winds just pushed the rain under the door. the winds took down one of our antennas and we don't have internet at home and have a lot of customers without too.

a happy tale.... I left the office yesterday to get towels and a mop to clean up all the water and saw a pup running around without a collar and not being street smart. I stopped and managed to get him into my car and took him to my friend's who are set-up for doggie rescue. he was seriously hungry and chowed down and then curled up in the dog house and slept and slept and slept!

he's 7 -8mos old and a beautiful boxer mix, fawn with black muzzle and white blaze down his front and just the sweetest pup ever.

when looking for his owner we found out he had been running around that neighborhood for at least 3 days. what the h'll is wrong with people that they saw him, obviously lost and didn't get him help in the middle of 3 days of raging storms!!!

anyway, we're pretty sure we'll be able to find his owners. if not, he's safe and cared for until we can place him in a safe and loving home.

I'll check in when I can. stay safe and be careful when you're out and about. the water is taking trees with it.

hugs

Thanks for update, wow looks awful, Be as careful as you can. Sounds like a cute puppy!

we are calling him "Lucky" as another 24 hrs out and it might have been a different ending smileys/smile.gif FYI

the Pacific is beyond description, wave swells 30 - 40 ft, the pure, raw beauty is awesome!

Your storm makes my 5" of snow seem

extremely insignificant. I just looked out the window here at work, and it's flurrying again. No complaints after reading what you guys are dealing with.

It's very mild up here---no worries. All our early snow is gone too, but no rain or flooding.

quite pleasant, actually. But, we really need some snow cover for the plants to survive the cold temps--in the teens this week.
