Trader Joe's Santa Maria Tri-Tip Roast

Has anyone had this product from Trader Joe's? I'm wondering if it is tender, as usually I have to marinate my tri-tips for them to come out really tender.

I bought one of those a few weeks ago-it was spoiled.....

I bought two-tossed them in the freezer. Thawed one overnight in the frig-it really smelled bad when I open the cyrovac- which sometimes happens with cyrovac meat. Cooked it according to the package directions-still stinky. One bite-foul!
I've written-sent the label and receipt-haven't heard back yet. Had company for dinner-so had to run to the store and get sirloin to broil. I was so embarrassed.

And yes, I would still marinate any tri-tip it is naturally a tougher cut of meat.

I checked the "sell by" date and it is the end of November. I did open it up

and it is fine. Very highly seasoned and might even have a tenderizer in the seasoning. I threw a marinade over it anyway. Thanks for the info. It is a very small tri-tip and the cooking instructions calles for 25 minutes on the grill.
By the way, why did you not take the meat back to the store the next day? I always do that when I get some bad product. Corporate never answers or takes too long. I get great customer service from the store.

Traders Joe's is 170 miles.....

DH and I run down to the Twin Cities now and then to go shopping and goof off. We take a cooler and stop at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's Williams Sonoma, etc. and have a great late lunch.

Writing them is cheaper than driving!!!
