Tonight: Eggplant Parmesan

Other repeats: Ramen Noodle stir fry

Hawaiian Ham Steak

Saturday night: Ham and Pineapple Kebobs

Not that I don't cook from other books, but Mr. Ginsburg's recipes are so easy and don't take much thought (thinkin' not something I do well lately!)

Well, there it is in black and white.

I must go and clean up the gourmet ice cream I made for dessert:

1 can sweetened condensed milk mixed with

1 cup whole milk, added

5 tablespoons cocoa powder mixed with hot water

Don't know why, just felt compelled to share my story. (I just went to confession Wednesday night, too. I guess I'm on a roll!)

Next thing you know I'll be getting rid of my Henkels asking for a set of Ginsu knives for Christmas!

Debbie

I want to make every single recipe in Julia Childs' Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

I know there's a book out there by someone who's already done it, but my vol.1 is dog-eared, yet I don't think I've made half of her recipes.

I think the book is "Julie and Julia." It was a blog first, and it's posted somewhere here by

Marilyn. Are you going to do each and every variation, or just the master recipes? And only Volume I?

Here's another true confession: I own a Ginsu...

when sons were all in their teens about 7 years ago, many of their friends would come over and they'd all go fishing...for whatever reason, one of them must have left a large Ginsu at our house, which went unclaimed when everyone went off to college or wherever and ended up in my utensil caddy on the counter. I must tell you that that thing does cut through anything pretty quickly; I use it to cut the backbones out of chickens or to cut bone-in breasts in half with no effort. I certainly would not use it on the Thanksgiving turkey but the blade is almost like a corrugated and serrated saw-blade.

I too own Ginsu "steak" knives, they were eing given away at (more)

Texas gas stations in the late 1980's.
I use them as "{garden" tools; they CUT ANYTHING;
twine, woody okra, poutry wire, cardboard, etc.
I have not been able to kill them with 15 or more years hard work.

Gag me with a Ginzu....

That's the first thing that comes to mind...

Am I dating myself here?

You're right. That's the book. Maybe we should make this a challenge.

I was going to start with Vol.1 simply because I don't think I'm that great a cook and I want to learn more. You are more experienced. What do you think? Wouldn't it be interesting to have all of us make all of her dishes and report back?

That is one of my fantasies (boy,do I need a boy friend!) since reading parts of "Julie and Julia".

but I plan on sailing a couple more years. Would love to watch you guys face off!! Actually a job I am considering next summer, I might could pull it off??
Will be watching for the games to begin!
How long did it take--a year? maybe we could put a start and stop date?

Absolutely, (and you do not need a boyfriend, a boyfriend needs you)

But I agree, set a time limit and we can all sign up. Whaddayuhthink?
