Two very sad bits of news about Swappers......

I had seen one of those notices...

but did not know that Judy/KY had also passed.

So sad to lose such fun friends.

A former contributor to Gail's Recipe Swap and active participant at the chat was Gail Walsh aka

Jane and also Siobhan Cohen. We learned today that she passed in August, 2013. Many of us had wondered what had happened to her. She had had many health issues.

Oh how sad, I am keeping their families in my thoughts. I think I'll peruse the T&T

and see if they have any recipes in there, it would be a good time to revisit and think of them doing what they loved and shared.

I'm not sure what happened to Nan. Is she laying low or....I spoke to her when she was in the

care facility and she was having a heck of a time, both health-wise and with another issue. But when we spoke, she seemed better and I thought she might be moving out of that facility. Not sure what her next step was going to be. She was still talking about going back to work.

I found her!!! She's been in assisted living after several small strokes and a couple big ones. Nan

will be getting a computer again in a few days and hopefully she'll join us here. The strokes, as far as they go, weren't too damaging. She's having trouble with her left hand, which is her dominant hand. "I can't use a knife or hold a pen, which is terrible for a cook." Memory-wise, the doctors say she lost about a year, and she had to give up both driving and the apartment she's had for years. Overall, she misses working the most.

The food at the assisted living place is terrible--mostly fried stuff, which is hard for me to imagine. She gave them Joanie's recipe for shrimp, mango, and avocado salad, which they now make often. And she was sure to tell me, "You can use frozen mango." Noted.

She sounds good and misses everyone here. Ang, there's a special hello to you. She asked about your new husband. smileys/smile.gif

thanks ever so much. the card that was returned was stamped all over about 20 times, no longer here

OMG--I've been looking for this recipe for years!! I didn't know it was Pillsbury

My mother used to make an onion bread (not very often) but I always remembered how much I liked it. Thought it was a recipe she clipped from a newspaper--never found it.
I've seen several similar recipes, but this looks like the original.
And to think it was by Nan--so grateful you found this and to the fab Nan for creating.
I hope she's feeling better soon!
Thank you, thank you!
