Update on grilling pan: I bought a Chefmate from Target for these reasons:

1) local, could get it right away, no shipping

2) a bit smaller than the Lodge rectangular, so fit my stovetop better

3) cheaper, $20 as opposed to $35 for the Lodge, if I don't like, not so much of an investment

4) not quite as heavy as the Lodge

ONLY used twice so far so these observations:

a) with one NY steak, no great splatter but with 4 boneless/skinless chicken thighs kind of a mess to clean up the stovetop. Future will do the chicken thighs outside on the grill

b) low lip didn't protect the stove from splatter the way an All Clad (which was NON reversible but $100, BTW) would have done

c) "handles" were depressions not holes or real handles, not as easy to move around

d) grease drip well was not lower than the lows on the grill part.

e) the grill stripes were closer together than the Lodge ( just different, not better or worse)

Well that's it so far.

Thanks to all for your input.

I have a round one already ( or I DID have one before the

kitchen remodel---lots of stuff I still cannot find.) However my pan is rectangular anyway 19 by 10.

Luisa, I know just what you're saying. We just finished our kitchen remodel (our whole house)...

just within the last 4 mos...there are still things I can't find. Yesterday I was trying to find my meat mallet and ended up using a hammer! smileys/smile.gif There are other things I haven't found but the escape my mind at this time.

I feel so much better now

I moved about two months ago, still haven't found everything. I guess if I actually unpacked all of my boxes I'd find stuff.

those round screens never worked worth a hoot for me...

I bought one of those tri-fold stand up metal things that you put behind the skillet - like a little folding screen. It keeps the spatters off the stove.
