Visiting Washington DC

We haven't booked our hotel yet for our upcoming visit to Washington DC . We thought it would be fun to pick our hotel location in the DC area based on your input of great restaurants near the subway. For cost considerations we would like to be in the suburbs.... somewhere in Virginia or Maryland. We won't be renting a car, so any of your recommendations near the subway would be great and a good inexpensive place is even better!

I'm thinking Yelp might be your best option, if no one else has anything firsthand. I use it...

...a lot when I travel.

Same as Michael I use Yelp *alot* on vacation, as well as TripAdvisor. Am not one to

load up my mobile phone with a bunch of apps but Yelp and TripAdvisor apps have proved invaluable on trips both near and far from home. TripAdvisor covers a number of restaurants now too in addition to lodging and sights-to-see.

VRBO has been a terrific resource as well for more extended stay lodging especially for condos. Hotels.com is one I use as well for at least a starting point to see what's available in the area.
