Wah! My fav burger place in town closed.

We have one within walking distance. Steve, when you are in the area again -

call me and I'll meet you there for burgers and a Maui Shake.

Also - try Y Not Burger on Hawthorne Blvd and 230th Street - *very* good zucchini, along with burgers and Greek Food. ~sigh~

If you are ever out this way you gotta try Kirk's Burgers

Link to their story, but interesting thing is they didn't start selling fries till after Bill died as he felt the taste took away from the goodness of the actual burger and meat so wouldn't do it. For me it's true, I never eat fries with my Kirk's burger because the meat there is so yummy I don't want to mask it.

funny lunch today: waiting for Chinese take out, I had a seat that looked right into the kitchen.

the cooks/bakers(it's a restaurant/bakery)were passing around a Carl's Jr bag and munching on burgers and fries. Made me wonder if my lunch choice was a mistake today!

Not gonna wait in line for an hour, pay too much for a burger I you have to eat THEIR way.

If I went, I'd have to sneak in some ketchup which would most likely get me thrown out. I get thrown out of some of the BEST places.

might just do that. Think I'll be down that way-ish to pick up the chiller for my wine cellar. . .

I was thinking more along the lines of Bludsoe's BBQ in (gulp) Compton.

Because we have 2 FB 's in the neighborhood, a visit isn't a big deal. On opening nights for the shows I did at Redundant Beach CLO, we'd skip the opening night party, hit Fatburger's for Fatburgers, Fat Fries and Fat Onion Rings then eat 'em at home in our pajamas. Who said we don't live la vida loca!

Maria, are you in the South Bay area? I spent far too much time in Sunnyvale. Gonna be there

at some point in early April. I'll check these bad boyz out.

I work in Sunnyvale....

And as such you'll be closest to the Santa Clara location, but IMHO the Campbell one has the best burgers (I'm not the only one who thinks this). It is the only Kirk's that is still in the same location since I was a kid. Mind you it's a dive, but a great burger. My personal favorite is the pineapple cheeseburger and I don't put anything else on it but ketchup so as not to mar the taste. Can you tell I'm a California kid or what? smileys/smile.gif

Was thinking the same thing when I read it. Shot an email to some foodie-girlfriends and

we're going to make a journey to try out the burgers. Thought we'd try to find other culinary things to do too in the area and make a day of it. Kinda nice to explore a new region, even though it's only 50-60 miles away.

And if you want Hot Dogs you go to Happy Hound

This tiny hole in the wall place is not too far from the Campbell Kirk's if you are of a mind to have a "junk food" day. They also have an above average burger but not in the grilled over charcol way that Kirk's does it. However, if you like Hot Dog's this should be on your list of places to stop by.

You now know my favorite burger and hot dogs joints in town. ...doesn't mean I don't wisfully think of Paypaya King in NYC every now and again though. I have never found juice like that anyplace in CA -- and I've tried.
