Was someone here looking for an embossed cookie recipe?

Yep holding up hand that would be me. I bought a carved rolling pin and am

trying to find a dough that lets the lettering remain. So far, two different batches haven't held the letters, but the shape worked well..

The first was a extremely basic shortbread (butter/flour/sugar) and the next was the version Maria uses for her molded cookies. That worked slightly better...you could see "something" but not read it.

Gay posted one using baker's ammonia which I just received last week. haven't tried that one.

Thanks for finding me another version to try. Hope springs eternal. Or at least until even cheap butter goes over $5 a pound.

good luck

The link I posted was just the recipe which I found by following a link on eGullet. The eGullet post showed pics of the cookies and the lettering was very crisp.
