Washington DC!!! Taking my first trip there. Staying in the eastern district...restaurants??

Some suggestions:

While we don't go into DC too often because of the traffic and high parking fees ( we tend to eat in Alexandria and Arlington), here are some of the places we enjoy in the city.

Any of Jose Andres' restaurants are excellent. We really like Jaleo for their tapas. Aqua Al 2 is fun. You can get a tasting of five different pastas. Central Michel Richard is another one we enjoy. La Chaumiere is one we often go to for an anniversary dinner. For an informal pizza place, Pizzeria Paradiso is great. Belga Cafe is a Belgian place with excellent food and the "French" fries are really special served with different sauces.

We stay in Arlington and subway into the city

Last time we visited, we stayed at the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington. We walked from there to the National Mall and back to the hotel along the Potomac. Also, crossed from Arlington side on the footbridge to visit Theodore Roosevelt Island several times. Colleen

Rose's Luxury at 717 8th Street SE,

Where Capitol Hill meets the Navy Yard. The DC Marine Barracks are across the street for lots of eye candy.

My friends on Capitol Hill took me to this place on a recent visit, it is their favorite, and I have to say, the food was simply stunning! Get there early or you will have a long wait. Menu changes daily, but if they are running the chili honey dipped pan fried chicken? (unintelligible sounds) It is required.

Also check out the entry on Tripadvisor for Rose's. Many nice photos of the food.

Thank you all!! Got a great deal on a b&b across street from subway

Am having too much arthritis pain in hips to do extensive walking these days. Restaurant suggestions sound YUM! We will spend one full day in Monticello if you have recommendations there too smileys/smile.gif
