Water from Kitchen Aid fridge suddenly tastes disgusting!...

Out tap water tasted just the same as usual, but now the filtered water from the fridge tastes awful - sort of sweetish. We replaced the filter and it tasted better for about 30 minutes, but then the bad taste came back again. It's a sad day when our Orlando tap water tastes better than the filtered water. I wondered if there was mould or algae growing in the lines, but we can't find where they are in the fridge - they seem to be completely hidden. I will unpack the fridge tomorrow to try to find them, but in the meantime, does anyone have any advice?

I can't imagine what is going on with your filter. Maybe some refrigerant

is somehow leaking into that area. Have you called the KA help line? Iron in the water tastes bad, and some elements may not be caught by the filter, but you'd think you would taste them in the unfiltered water. Have you tried decanting some of the filtered water and letting it stand, then tasting it?

thanks for the idea. I didn't think of calling KA as my fridge is 9 years old, but that's also a good idea.

It could be that the tubes that carry water to the filter that need cleaning...
