We are just about to redo our kitchen, and I want to buy a convection/microwave oven

so we can eat during the renovations. We do have a gas grill with a hotplate, but it can't do everything. And thank goodness for an electric kettle.

I am looking at the Sharp (in the link), as we had one 30 years ago that was amazing. Does anyone have any advice on convection/microwaves?

One firm said the renovations will take six weeks! My husband did our kitchen in South Africa all by himself in 6 weeks, after work and on weekends. (That's when I bought the original convection/microwave.) I am horrified at this time estimate. We are still waiting for quotes, though.

I have no knowledge of this particular model, but I loved the combo convection/micro

oven my sister in law used to have 20 years ago. I looked for one quite a while ago and couldn't find one, glad to see they are around again. I have no microwave, but would probably use it if I also had the convection feature.

That does look very good, but I'm off GE at the moment.

My new fridge just falls apart before my eyes, and I'm going to buy another one. The Advantium doesn't seem to have a countertop version, which is what I need. But it certainly seems extremely versatile!

Hi, Lana! I have a GE Profile so I see you are not interested in that brand, but I will go ahead

and list 1 or 2 key features I wanted when buying my combination microwave-convection oven (it's a built-in above my drop-in stove).
1) I wanted one with a fan that vented to the outside of the house.
2) I needed surplus oven space for catering as well as holiday meal prep so wanted to be able to put in large pans & casseroles for baking. The INTERIOR dimensions of my oven measure 12-1/2" by 18" which means with the convection rack in place, I have room to insert and bake two 10" X 15" casseroles. I did NOT want a turn table in mine for that very reason.

We remodeled our kitchen way back in 1997, and it took a little over 6 weeks total with the contractor & his work crew of two men. Ergo, my current built-in GE Profile microwave-convection combination over-the-range oven will be 20 years old this coming October. It's still running like a champ.

Good luck with your upcoming project!

Initially, I was looking at something like this,

but then I suddenly remembered how much I had enjoyed the convection/microwave 25 years ago, and we thought we'd rather get that.

Wow, that's quite a testimonial!

But, the difference is that yours was made 20 years ago. I have a fairly new GE Profile fridge.First one drawer broke. Then the freezer shelves started to slip. And finally the other drawer broke. I don;t mean a little bit breaking off, they shattered into several pieces, just from normal everyday use.

But I might take another look, because of the size. Mine in SA was the same size, and yes, it was wonderful for holidays because I could fit so much into it.
Thanks!
