We dug out the pressure cooker today for a pot roast. Yummm.

Pot roast in an hour. It works. So why do I only bring it out once ever 2 or 3 years? And why do I only make pot roast in it? Any other suggestions?

I am scared of mine! I have not used it in over 5 years. When I grew up, my family only made corn

on the cob in the pressure cooker. It really does taste yummy....BUT, it scares me!

I think that's why mine stays in a shed most of the time. But...

every time I drag it out for a pot roast, I think "gosh, I really need to use this more often." Seriously...pot roast in an hour.

Use your crockpot to prepare ribs.

Use your favourite spice/her blend and rub into the ribs. Layer some slices of onions on the bottom of the pot. Add a layer of ribs and slather with a BBQ sauce; add more onions; add more ribs and sauce, etc.

Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.

Enjoy!

This is Ian's favourite way to prepare ribs.

At the cooking store where I teach, the owner is an avid fan of the PC, but I've never used one

He finds that hard to believe. One day I came in and he had a hideous burn on his hand and arm. He had decided to teach a pressure cooker class a few days before and was talking and cooking at the same time. He released a lid too soon. He also burned his feet because he was wearing flip flops! (This is California)

He didn't go to the hospital until the next day--he wanted to finish the class. He didn't sell any pressure cookers though.

I'm still not ready to buy one either, but he swears by them for beans and for long-cooking meats like ribs. I wonder if Sylvia's rib recipe might work for a PC after all.

I remember my mother using one when I was young (many moons ago). Some green vegetable blew the top

off and splattered all over the ceiling. We kids thought it was great fun at the time but I never have even thought of owning one.

That's ok, Sylvia, I've put this in my "to try" list. I am always looking for slowcooker recipes smileys/smile.gif

And in my case, my mom was making veggie soup. I begged her to color in my coloring book. Of course,

she forgot the soup and it was what ended up all over the ceiling. I've never had one.

Hi. I use mine at least once a week... steam vegetables (about 3-4 minutes for most)

and that's usually starting to time it from when the gauge starts to go up.

Potatoes, whole, take about 10 minutes and they taste just like baked potatoes.

I tried putting stale bagels in there, just to try it, and they came out pretty good.

KFC uses a PC to cook their chicken I hear, but I'm not sure of the details.

Rice works, but I've never done it in there.

Dawn, I am interested in your potatoes in the PC

I've only cooked mine to make mashed potatoes, so they go in salted water, cook for perhaps 8-10 minutes and they are ready to mash and finish

but it seems to me you are cooking your potatoes over a rack with a little water only?

I would love to try this once I am back in my own kitchen
