Weekend Six anyone?

So it's Friday which to me is the start of the weekend!!

It's the solstice so I'm having dinner with a friend and after she drops off her son we are going to have wine and maybe do something wacky under the moonlight (if we see the moon - summer fog).

Tomorrow I'm going to a brunch at this fun place that will be serving foie and accepting donations for Share Our Strength. Can't wait to have foie! My friend is providing it to the restaurant from his capacious freezer and a few other stealthy sources.

After the boozy brunch I'm going lingerie shopping because, really ladies, don't we need a cocktail before doing this? ugh! LOL

Saturday night I'm going to slow cook the Mangalitsa pork neck osso bucco style. It's the first day of summer so it's time for stew and slow braises! haha!

Sunday I am cleaning house. My pantry and bar have overflowed onto the floor of my tiny dining nook, it's ridiculous. How do you store things and WHERE? Apartment living is just crazy when you are a gourmande.

Weekend Six

Started the weekend off by taking a truck load of trash to the dump - been doing some deep cleaning, throwing away years of paperwork and accumulated stuff. Not working has some advantages.

Then we decided to coupon it (we've been doing that a LOT since I have been off work) and try Old Chicago Pizza - not bad.

Tomorrow friends are coming over so he can 'reclaim' some wood from all the trees and bushes we have been trimming or removing. He is a retired coworker of DH's and an artist so he's making 'small space' pieces that are pretty cool. He is strictly a meat and potatoes kind of guy so supper is going to be a nice potato hash with steak and eggs and some grilled vegetables for the other three of us.

Farmers Market trip first thing tomorrow morning so I can have everything prepped and even get the hash ready up to the final browning.

Finish cleaning - final sweeping, vacuuming, etc.

Sunday is our annual Ohio State Alumni Club meeting so I have to prepare for that as secretary, co-chair of membership, chair of publicity, social media, and special events.

Have to figure out what I am going to take to the meeting - we all bring finger foods and socialize afterwards - small group usually only about a dozen. They love the buffalo chicken dip but I am so tired of taking it after taking it for probably the last 20 years (well it sure feels that way). Not sure what to make this year - not feeling inspired.

Then back to finish all this deep cleaning - need to inventory the freezer and pantry and see what all needs to be used up so that is probably my priority if I have time after the meeting Sunday.

I have felt the same way about the chicken dip. You may want to try Dawn's pizza dip; it is a

really nice dip and similiar in the bohemian style. (If that makes sense!).... Kind of like... dig in! I have made it with pepperoni, sausage, ground meat, etc. It is fun. Serve with sliced baguette

Last night I made a Mexican Clam Dip that I got off the swap, but I don't know

who to credit, and everyone loved it. I made it with the cream cheese, clams, a large can of chopped green chiles, cilantro, fresh garlic, and salt. I made it from memory and I didn't remember the salsa. My version was very good. You definitely need to add the fresh garlic. Then I baked it and served it with Frito Scoops.

Mexican Clam Dip
8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 cup purchased green chili salsa (salsa verde) (about 6 ounces)
2/3 can diced green chilies (4 ounce)
1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro
2 cans chopped clams (6.5 ounce) drained well
Corn chips or tortilla chips

Beat cream cheese in large bowl until smooth. Mix in salsa, chilies and cilantro. Add clams and blend well. Season dip to taste with salt and pepper. Transfer to ovenproof dish. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover; chill.) Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake dip uncovered until heated through and bubbling around edges, about 35 minutes. Place bowl of dip on platter. Surround with chips and serve. Makes about 2 cups.
