Friday went shopping for some jars and bottles to make homemade goodies for Christmas presents for those that have everything. Will make some sauces and jams, probably. Raffia, a wooden spoon, and a wire whisk should complete them. Fun to put together and I hope will be fun to get.

Stumbled across a new gourmet-type of deli that recently opened up not too far away from us. Yummy soups and croissant sandwiches, salads, and nice-looking desserts.

Then made some turkey noodle soup with some jalapenos. Wow! To use up most of the leftover turkey, I also made turkey pot pie using flattened crescent roll dough for the top. Tasted more like turkey and biscuits in the end, but that's not a bad thing.

Finished cleaning up the yard and getting snow shovels out Saturday (

Had fun yesterday watching all the holiday cooking marathons on tv. Sometimes you just need a day to stay around the house and veg.

Planning on making apple pie and/or apple cake for Thursday. Someone else will be bringing pumpkin cheesecake, so I might just stick to the cake.

And a new favorite side dish that I'm going to have to sneak into

Thanksgiving dinner - lightly steamed broccoli with horseradish sauce and crumbly blue cheese. Really, really good.
