Seattle. It's our first cruise, so can anyone tell me how they accomplished NOT packing one whole suitcase just for shoes?? I can't seem to whittle down my warm weather choices to just a certain color scheme, and I'm not even a "shoe" person. That's always the problem for us cold weather folk---we have warm weather clothes that get worn so seldomly that we want to wear them ALL in a span of 10 days. LOL. Looking forward to the eats on board. DH still has a feeding tube and can't eat, so this will be a challenge, but we'll figure it out. We leave next Thursday for Acapulco, then cruise starts on Sat. Nan, I'll be taking some ginger with smileys/smile.gif

Cruising is my favorite way to go....

it's hard to pack light but the last time we cruised the Mediterranean we had to because we were catching flights around the EU to get there and their weight limit was 75# per person/1 bag and we were staying in GB before and after so we needed both cool weather and warm weather.

So here is how I finally got it down to sort of a science - I take one pair of little silver evening strappy low heeled sandals that go with everything, arelight, and pack small. I take one pair of lace up shoes suitable for walking/hiking - mine are Mephistos, look a little nicer than sneakers so they can go with dresser stuff and even loner skirts/dresses. And I take o pair of sandals that go with everything. I usually take shoes in sort of a caramel color because it will go with just about everything and most of them have a dark brown or black sole so it even works with black.

I take things that wash and dry easily - the ribbed sort of stretchy knits you see at Cold Water Creek and Travelsmith are GREAT - mix and match the pieces, packs well, doesn't wrinkle, washes out and dries pretty quickly.

No advise, but have a wonderful time!! I am sure it will be a spectacular, memorable experience!!

I loved . Acapulco, Mexico in general...

it's fun and the ocean is so warm. Drink a Bohemia for me! Have a great time!

Sounds so fine!! Missy's ieas are spot on, Also, you will probably see a few things you want

on the way? ExOfficio in SeaTac has some good sporty type travel wear.
Just have the time of your life my friend, and it's fun to tell you, "Bon Voyage", and you're not going to work!!!!

You can also take advantage of the ship's laundry service.

I've done that several times. They generally take 24 hours to return your clothes, so after 2 or 3 days I send what we've worn to the laundry and then we can wear it again.)

Nan, would candied ginger work as well for seasickness?

although I don't think I will get sick, but just in case.

Yes it does!!! And since hopefully you won't need it you canbake with it later. I also make big

pitchers of tea with fresh ginger on board.
But for most everyone the candied ginger works very well.
Which line and ship is it? Stay on board and come on up to K-town.

My best piece of advice....where the more snugly fitting clothes at the beginning of the

cruise and save the looser-fitting items toward the end. *big grin*
