Well, i just finished my "what was I thinking!" project for the season

Modjeskas. I made homemade marshmallows & homemade caramel, then dipped them. Lord, what a mess. Either the caramel is too hot & starts to melt the marshmallow or it is to thick. Anyway, lots of work & they don't look very pretty but they do taste good.

The marshmallow making was fun & easy though. There is a very trendy chocolate maker here who makes them with toasted coconut, finely chopped nuts & cocoa nibs folded in, then piped out in big kiss-shaped dollops. I might have to try that next time.

Still have a bunch of marshmallows left. I'm a glutton for punishment. Might have to try dipping some in chocolate. Maybe I'll just drizzle some melted over them...

What a fun project! Did the marshmellows taste really different from the store bought? We use

tonz of marshmallows during the summer. I just hate the idea of working so hard on making them to only have them used to make smores.

Congrats on your project!

Ooh, I haven't made these for years. And I didn't know what they were called.

I'm too lazy to make my own marshmallows, but I do make the caramel.

I saw these on a TV program once, I thought they were called 'romanoffs'. I have the same problems with melted marshmallows and sticky caramel, but they are so worth making. Everyone I have given them to raves about them.

I won't have time to make them this year. I think that is a Good Thing!

Congratulations on doing the whole homemade thing - I salute you and plan never to emulate it! Just the thought makes me tired.
