Went to Philadelphia for a tradeshow this past weekend. It was at the center city Convention Center

just across the street from the famous Reading Market Terminal, my favorite part of the whole trip! Bad thing is I only get to go very early in the morning and stalls not selling food are not open yet. One day I got 10 minutes at lunch to check out the cookbook stall. I bought a beautiful Green & Black Chocolate cookbook. I had never seen one of these before. Almost every recipe has a full page color photo which I love. The recipes all sound wonderful and I can't wait to get started!

There was also a new food stall that said they were local and green. They had fresh cranberries! (Not sure how local they are?) I was not able to buy any because I had no where to put them smileys/frown.gif They also had some other things I had never seen before like winter radishes, 3 kinds of sweet potatoes, cute small cabbages, Emu eggs, etc. I wish there was a place like that in my neighborhood!

We were there about 4 or 5 years ago and LOVED it

We stayed at the Marriott (or was it Sheraton) that is attached to the convention center so all we had to do was walk out and across the street. We took all sorts of goodies back to our room and enjoyed them.

DH went back in Oct. '08 and was over at RTM every chance he got. I made him bring me back a whole box of pastries from Termini Bros. Their fig 'cookie' is to die for and I've been trying to replicate it for years.

I loved the stuff from the Amish places. We had some nice Amish cheeses, pastries, pies, breads - all sorts of stuff that we could snack on.

We always hit the markets when we travel. I just wish we had something that good here but we're getting better....

Missy, it's the Marriott, that's where we stayed too because it's all indoors to

get to the convention center.

The Termini Bros. cookies are the best. I can not tell you how many I ate in the 4 days I was there-it would be really embarassing!

I was not able to carry much home with me as I already had too much luggage to pull around. But I did buy a nice bottle of OO and a beautiful jar of Italian Seville Orange Jam. Can't wait to try them both!

Oh that would be really fun, to do the Market with a fellow foodie!

And, I find the restaurants there wonderful. There are lots of little chef owned places that are BYOB and are really good. And a number of differently themed restaurants by Starr that are all good.
