What a week: Hurricane in Cincy? Who'd a thought...

Ike hit us on Sunday, still packing category 1 force winds (gusting to 95 mph). 90 percent of the city power grid was knocked out, trees uprooted and tossed onto houses and cars, 6 deaths. I still have no power and the energy company says it could be next week before everyone is fully restored. I spent yesterday unloading my 3 freezers into coolers and driving my food around to friends who got power back and had freezer space. My office finally got power today at noon so I'm finally "connected" again. Looking over the news sites and I haven't even seen a mention of this with all the other bad news.

Richard, it hit my town in Beaver Valley (between Ohio border & Pittsburgh)

No power since Sunday...won't get it until tomorrow at the earliest.

2 killed here from winds, MIL in Springfield, OH told us how bad it was there too

This was a strange one. Didn't seem to track like they normally do more down to the south. DH thought his mother was exaggerating until he looked it up on the weather channel.

The two killed here were playing golf (in winds with 50+ mph gusts - go figure) and a tree fell on their cart.

Wow, I had no idea. Did you manage to save your freezer contents? No bad storms here this year. We

can breathe a sigh of relief in another couple of months.
