What are your favorite chocolate chips and where do you get them?

I have been buying the three pound bag from King Arthur for years and I really like them. I called to order my annual pre-holiday bag and they have discontinued them!!!! I am not a big Toll House or Ghiradelli fan. Any suggestions of other brands/places to order from?

 
I just checked the King Arthur site and it shows Callebaut chips 3 lbs - Are those the ones you're

referring to or is it a different brand that's not shown on the site?
Callebaut, although not my favorite, is good chocolate - very smooth (I've tried their bulk chocolate, not their chips), and Schokinag is also supposed to be very good (King Arthur sells their chips also).

 
Can I get you to reconsider the Ghirardelli? I love the Ghirardelli 60% Cocoa chips

I think that's the name of it. It used to be called Double Chocolate, but they changed the name last year.

It's not the same as the semisweet - it's a darker-chocolate flavor, and the chips are a little bigger than the Nestle tollhouse chips.

I've been buying those exclusively for a couple of years now, and love them.

I find them in the bigger supermarkets, as the smaller ones say they don't have enouch shelf display space for all the varieties of chips (semisweet, white, milk etc.)

Try it - you really might like it!

 
Tropical Source chocolate chips, but our Whole Foods doesn't carry them anymore??

I used to drive 28 miles each way to shop every so often and pick up Tropical Source Chocolate Chips. They were the best. Now my/all? Whole Foods Markets no longer carry them?

Has anyone seen them anywhere else?

I gave up on finding chocolate chips; I just hack away at bars of chocolate .. >>>

Of course, hand chopping is totally out of the question for 3 lbs. of chocolate, though. smileys/wink.gif

 
My favorite are President's Choice The Decadent Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

but if you don't live in Canada I think you are out of luck. I'd be happy to send some though!

 
We are "PC" addicts...

whenever our friends from TO come to vist (or we go there) - they brings us gifts of PC marinades (we are especially fond of their jerk sauce and soy ginger) and dressings and the big PC chocolate bars. Awesome stuff!

 
I agree....they are good...and are great for a fix when the "Chocolate, I

must have chocolate" urge hits you and there is no other dark chocolate around!

 
Thank you all for your help. I am going to check for the Tropical Source...

chips at the new Whole Foods in Fairfax, maybe they will have them. I also will try the Trader Joes chips that were mentioned in the thread below. Guess I'll have to bake some "test" chocolate chip cookies and then eat them for comparison purposes!!
