What are your favorite smoothie recipes. I want to start having some for breakfast, but

so many of them have bananas in them, and I hate bananas. I don't mind them in banana bread, but when you use them in smoothie recipes, is the flavor muted or prevalent? Thanks!

Not a smoothie but I've been putting watermelon in the blender and once blended, adding diet squirt!

and not for breakfast but a pick me up during the day. I know - it would be way better for me without the diet pop; sometimes I just add selzter.

That sounds really good, Deb. I love watermelon but

the rest of the family not so much. It would be a good way to use up all of the watermelon. Thanks!

In the smoothies I make I use bananas as a sweetener. . .

and bananas make the smoothie creamier, as I don't put yogurt in my smoothies.

If you use a ripe, but green-tipped banana the flavor is hardly noticeable, especially if you use other fruits that are more strongly flavored, like orange, nectarine/peach, or strawberries. You don't really need banana in a smoothie, but it does make for good texture. For sure avoid the very ripe, spotted skin bananas--the riper they get, the stronger they taste.

If you have a source, frozen pineapple or good canned pineapple pineapple juice are good sweeteners.

Oh, my favorite smoothie uses:

whole oranges, mango, banana, and strawberries.

If I have other fruit around I will throw those in too, with some ice. I usually use frozen strawberries because they keep the smoothie cold.

I lean a bit toward tropical

I'm still a newbie taste wise so keep to the 60 fruit/40 veggie/greens taste rule, current favs:

5-6 chunks pineapple/1 orange/handful of spinach or a bit less of kale/6 ice cubes

1 yellow mango/ 1 orange/ handful of spinach or a bit less of kale/6 ice cubes

(Buzzed up in the vitamix, all organic.) Grapes are super yummy too.

So far I haven't been too excited about strawberries (much improved with a slice of lime). They aren't as sweet as they'd seem. I'm trying to back off bananas because of how much sugar they have but the do also add a creamy texture. I've added 1 peeled frozen banana to the above combos. You might want to try half depending because the taste can be the first note of flavor. Plenty of people use dates to sweeten.

Do a search on ones posted by Marsha tbay, she's posted quite a few I'm looking to try out. Also this site >>> has quite a few.

Yes, I peel the orange and. . .

the banana and for sure the mango. Leave the strawberries and any other stuff (depending on the peels) whole, taking any pits out of course.

I remember years ago seeing Vitamix demos toss the whole orange in. My new one has you

peel the orange, but leave the seeds/pith.

I think back then they even tossed in pineapple WITHOUT peeling the sucker. How prickly! That makes my mouth pucker just thinking about it.
