What can I serve with fish chowder on Christmas Eve? I always used to

make stuffed Quahogs but I can't get the right Quahogs here. Just 3 adults. I'd like it to be easy but a little more festive.

Thanks Joe, I have printed the mussel recipe if not for Christmas

then for another time. It doesn't have to be seafood, just sort of a New England tradition I guess. Stuffed mushrooms are a great idea, maybe on a platter with clams casino? We'll have a big crudite platter with drinks and other appetizers.
Did I just see an Ina Garten stuffed mushroom recipe here or somewhere else in the last few days?

I'm thinking a nice green salad and some lovely REC Green Chili Cornbread

The chilies don't get in the way flavor-wise- and I think this might be lovely with fish chowder. Another idea would be popovers.

GREEN CHILI CORN BREAD

¾ c (1-1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temp
1 cup yellow cornmeal
6 Tbsp sugar
4 large eggs
1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1-1/2 tsp salt
1- 15 oz can cream style corn
1- 4 oz can diced green chilies
1/3 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
½ cup Monterey Jack cheese, grated

Pre-heat oven to 375. Lightly oil 9” square baking pan. Beat butter, cornmeal and sugar in bowl with mixer until well blended. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in small bowl. Add to batter and stir well. Mix in corn, chilies and both cheeses. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 45-55 min. Cool slightly.

Puff pastry wrapped shrimp. I have a Thai or Indian recipe for a deep-fried one

but can't remember what it's called. It's in one of my recipe books. If you want, I'll look it up.

I googled and there are lots of puff pastry shrimp recipes out there. I think that the leftover (if any) pastry flakes thrown into the chowder would be tasty.
