What does everyone make for Christmas morning breakfast?

We always ate at friends'. Waffles, reeeeeeelly good bacon, coffee with Baileys. Fruit,

And reeeeeeelly good old Canadian maple syrup.

My mom used to make thick ham slices braised in 7Up with pineapple. Is 7Up still around?

I always made Danish pastries (the croissant-type dough) for treats.

The sausage and egg casserole dish. It can be frozen. Then

I put it in the oven the night before and set the oven to come on at 6AM or so and it will be ready to eat when we get up. It was our tradition for all the kids' growing up and now each of them do it in their homes!

Home made muffins, and an assortment of fresh fruit, OJ, and fresh coffee.

After breakfast we make Gin Fizzes, some really good blended, creamy ones, and open our gifts while sipping on those.

Ha, ha, ha! You're funny! I make as little as possible, but---

I can sometimes be coerced into having cinnamon buns to pop in the oven. . . smileys/smile.gif

Oh yes, Richard reminded mimosas with breakfast, coffee & Baileys with gifts. No wonder we had no

energy for dinner.

I've done a bunch of different dishes over the years. Cathy's bacon / sausage casserole, Always a

fruit salad, an omelet bar, Epi's Creme Brûlée French Toast, Epi's Tomato, egg, and Potato dish (Can't recall the exact name), Eleanor's egg / Ham dish, Bagel / Lox / Cream Cheese Spread, (Unfortunately, Bagels were "Day old" as all stores were closed on the 25th)....
Hard to imagine we are already discussing Christmas!!! Where did this year go! I "Do" Christmas Eve as well as Christmas morning. Many years, I feel like I pull an all nighter. No wonder I crash and take a nap on Christmas Day.

My goodness, I would never be able to pull all that food off. Christmas dinner is always

so filling, so I do not want everyone to eat all day long and not have an appetite. When we go to our children's for Christmas, there are appetizers sitting out for hours prior to dinner, and depending on what they are, I am never hungry when the big show hits the table......sad.

I serve a light brunch, gin fizzes when opening gifts, and then Christmas dinner....no appetizers. My family is hungry when they come to the table and I relish in the fact that some go back for thirds! Mostly, no one wants dessert as we are not big dessert eaters, so usually now I make some yummy cookies and serve ice cream, which everyone loves.

Sticky Buns, supremed citrus, and scrambled eggs for my non-sweet eating DS.

Oh, and how could I forget - Bacon. Lots o'bacon.

Different traditions. Like Barb, we do Christmas Eve as well...

in the Central European fashion. Our big holiday feast is on Christmas Eve. Christmas big breakfast is the last work done in the kitchen on Christmas day, so it can be a big meal without destroying a dinner later in the day. Everyone is on their own for grazing the remains from that point forward.

Oh Karen, I do not do all the dishes each year! Sorry, if that it how it was interpreted. I do

make a spread every christmas morning from the selection mentioned above. I think I do it, because my kids still believe in the magic of christmas morning. I make a Christmas morning breakfast, hoping that my parents and in-laws make the trip back. (They are here the night before for Christmas eve)..... I invite them to sleep here, but do not get any takers, so I hope to bribe them to enjoy in the magic of watching our kids open their presents. I usually get my parents back, with lots of moans and groans and "how long will they still believe" ? And my in-laws say that hungarians believe in Jesus and the angels, and they should be asleep!!! (in other words, presents are not in the am).

I love reading the stories about what each of you do for your traditions.... so interesting

and fun to read.

I didn't get the impression she does it ''all''--those were the

different things over the years she's done? When the kids were small and got up early for Santa, we had a sour cream coffee cake they could have quickly and then sat down to our casserole before opening all the wrapped gifts. We have a delicious tenderloin "dinner" mid-afternoon--appies and drinks while our other guests arrive and keep it fairly simple with a few sides, salad, etc.--not like the T'giving 'spread''. Christmas is busy enough!!

Sounds perfect Richard. We did that when I was a kid, than we all went to Midnight mass

Christmas morning, it was so relaxing, playing with all my new stuff, and basically a relaxing day for everyone. When I got married, my husband did it differently in his family, so we started a few of our own traditions when the kids came along.

Overnight egg/sausage casserole, Mexican breakfast casserole,

orange juice with a scoop of orange sherbet in stem glasses, mini croissants with homemade jam, Polish raisin bread and lots of coffee
