What is "Prem"? It was made by Swifts in the 60's and I think it must be a

kind of ham? Found a recipe using it in the old scrapbook I've been looking through. Oh! Maybe it's a forerunner of Spam? (Hard to believe that Spam was what they ended up with, though!)

I remember Prem from about fifty years ago. It was a Spam look-alike

and as mentioned by Dawn, it slid out of the can, probably due to more gelatin (pigs' feet?) om the mix. If you think Spam is salty, you should have tried Prem. I hadn't thought of it in decades, but I know if sodium content on labels was required for Prem, a serving size portion would be four digiits if not five!

25 cents went a lot further then--it could buy one spaldeen or 5 turkish taffy bars or 15...

chocolate covered raspberry jellies or about a hundred strips of candy buttons or a couple of wax lips or etc, etc etc.

We had Prem and Klik in Canada then. My brother used to make me a Klik sandwich of slices

fried in brown sugar and cinnamon. I remember liking them then.

I think he learned that one on a Boy Scouts weekend along with French toast.
