What is your favorite curry powder & why? I have hot curry powder yet so mild you can't detect it!

Today I made French salad....peaches (actually I had nectarines), chicken, curry, lime, etc.

I asked my husband if he could tell there was curry it and he said no; I had to agree my Spice Hunter Hot Curry Powder is not hot and it's tasteless, I may as well say.

I don't want something so hot I can't eat it, but I'd love to know when I'm eating curry.

I've found a couple that are good

One comes in a tin and is sold in supermarkets as Madras Curry Powder. I have a good heat tolerance and can't use it in large quantity.

The other is Penzey's hot curry and the same goes for that one.

Another option is to use garam Masada and add cayenne time
of it to your taste.

recipe for homemade

Madras-style curry powder
adapted from Hemphill's The Spice and Herb Bible:

Weigh and grind together:
14.5g coriander seed
7.8g cumin seed
1.3g mustard seed
1.75g fenugreek seed
0.77g whole cloves
0.9g cardamom seed (not whole pods, just seeds)
2.4g black pepper
add:
1.5 tsp ground turmeric
1 tsp ground ginger
0.5 tsp cinnamon
0.5 tsp ancho chili powder
grind briefly to blend

Ditto. I ran out, and had to purchase at supermarket yesterday. Can't compare.Penzy's worth the $.

If you are in Tampa here is Savory Spice Shop in

St. Petersburg--I think they are close.
Savory S;pice is an absolutely WONDERful spice shop, now franchised. Started in Denver. it will beat Penzey's. Take a look at their website.
But IF you are near, it is so worth a stop. Just an FYI. 'o)
