What is your favorite pre-made, easy, or nuke foods? Trying to stock up for after surgery...

I'm having outpatient surgery on Wed and need to buy easy to make or nuke food that tastes good enough to eat.

Because yes, I didn't get it together enough to freeze anything.

Any ideas?

I think Maria wants ready made food from the store. If I'm right Maria here's

a couple of ideas.
Hormel's Entrees...I'm pretty sure that is what they're called. At my store they keep them in the section around the cold cut meat area. They have one's like Beef Stroganoff and Beef pot roast. You can even buy mashed potatoes in the same containers and then just scoop out what you need and nuke. You can get 2 meals out of each entree.
Marie Callender makes a great pot pie. Stick in the oven.
I've recently found a burrito in the ethnic freezer section called Amy's that really are good. They have several types, all vegetarian. I have bought the one called Southwestern and it even has small dices of polenta. Really good.
Red Baron makes frozen portion size pizzas that are really good. They have one called individual
deep dish pizzas that I really like. There are 2 individually wrapped pizzas to a box.
If you can tomorrow I would go to the store and just walk the refrigerated section (all of them) frozen sections and meat sections. There is also another meat entree from another company, I can't think who it is right now, that they keep in the meat area. In my store they keep the mashed potatoes in the section right by the egg beater and eggs. Just look around, you'll probably be surprised at the ready made refrigerated food. They all have long expiration dates so you won't have to worry that you have to use everything all at once and you'll be surprised that they are pretty darn good.
I'll try and think of more ideas. Hope this is what you are looking for and lots of luck with your surgery.

That's a great link but I need to buy pre-made food becuase it's too late for me to make stuff

I know, I know...I shudda planned better but actually didn't realize till today this surgery thing might keep me in bed for a few days and now I have zero time to cook. So was hoping some folks could give me some pre-made favorites. I've got a TJ's nearby too so will hit them up. Problem is I end up staring at the frozen food section wondering if it will be awful.

Ditto the Marie Callender Pot Pies. They make one a little larger that the small ones. You can

nuke them in their special box, and the crust comes out browned. No need to use the oven. There are several varieties, all are very good. I always find the larger ones in the freezer section at Wal Mart. They have been a "life saver" for quick, late dinner many times.

Assuming there's a Trader Joe's nearby, the canned Chicken Chili is excellent--one can with onions

and cheese is a hearty lunch for one, and a light lunch with a salad for two.

Their frozen burritos are good, particularly when doused with their bottled enchilada sauce. (True Mexicans will forgive me for mixing my antojitos)

They have wonderful pizzas and such in the appetizer section, my favorite an Alsatian ham and cheese tart.

In the meat section you can find pre-seasoned fish fillets, chicken breasts and pork tenderloins. Just cook 'em up and have some salad or one of their microwavable veggie packs.

No, I am not the "Joe" in "Trader Joe's" and I do not receive payment for promoting their products.

Yes, good idea Joe. The frozen "Crunchy Breaded Fish Fillets" by

Gortons are really good. We sometimes like to have a couple with Tater Tots and tarter sauce once in awhile. They're really good.

I may be laughed off the Swap for this, but Hot Pockets are incredibly easy, toasty, and comforting

after surgery, especially for the moments when no one's there to warm something up for you!

I now return you to your regularly scheduled, nutritious and creative recipe programming. smileys/smile.gif

Amy's Frozen foods are pretty good. I like the burritos.

Also, if you have a Wegman's near you, their prepared foods are good. I like the macaroni and cheese and chicken pot pie.

If you have a Trader Joe's, I recall the frozen Fettuccine Alfredo was really good.
