What's a sub for Sazon Goya con Culantro y Achiote?

I've looked for a recipe for this packet of seasoning (never used it before) and was wondering how to make it? Or if one didn't have it, what sort of things you'd substitute in relative amounts? It is for a seasoned rice recipe, so I'm sure it doesn't need to be exact, I'm just suprised that it wasn't easily google-able!

Thanks for any assistance....

Karen, I'm going to the store tomorrow and I'll look for the list of ingredients>>>

on the package if you're not in a hurry. I'm in the heart of Cuban country, S. Florida, so I'm sure it's on the shelf. Let me know.

Karen, Have the box in front of me use it quite a bit and never looked at the ingredients. I was

surprised to see MSG as the first ingredient! It then goes on to list salt, garlic, cumin, yellow #5, Tricalcium phosphate (anti caking agent), Coriander, Annatto (color), red #40

I believe that coriander is the seed and cilantro is the leaf. When I see a recipe with

coriander I think cilantro. I would go by LisainLA's suggestion.

No problem Karen, I'm glad Gail had it on the ready for you. What a great place this is!

Gail is correct . Coriander has a different flavor than cilantro -

so I would go with the coriander, since that is what is listed in the ingredients.

I mentioned cilantro as a sub because culantro is a similar, but less flavorful, herb.

What I did...

thanks for the suggestions all! Since I can't compare it to the pre-packaged kind, I don't know how close I came but it was a rice dish that came out pretty well (followed- sort of- the recipe on the can of pigeon peas) Used boullion, garlic powder, cumin, turmeric, ground coriander & then finished the dish with fresh cilantro, so both made it in smileys/smile.gif It was pretty tasty & went well with the Peruvian Crockpot Pork that SallyCT posted a week or so ago.
ps- just saw a Robin fly by the window, so spring is looming even if the ground is covered with snow!

Karen, I saw robins here in late January. It's possible that they just haven't left you yet. The

calendar indicates that spring is coming, but this is the coldest day we've had yet.

Where in upstate NY are you, Karen? I'm near Syracuse and

if a robin was out here today, he'd freeze his feathers in mid-air. It was -6 when I got up this a.m. Brr....
