What's the difference between condenced milk and evaporated milk?

condensed milk is reduced and sweetened, evaporated is simply reduced.

In England and maybe Europe condensed milk

can also mean just evaporated milk.

Years ago, the two terms were interchangeable here too.

Oh, that's probably why it specifies "sweetened" condensed milk on the cans of it now
