Mom passed away yesterday. smileys/frown.gif

It was her time, she was 94 and dementia was finally getting to her. She had a good life, but still you know, she was my mom, so it's hard..

My deepest sympathies MariaDNoCA; my mom passed about 2 years ago. . .

and I swear, comfort food does comfort. My comfort food it probably her dish of slum gullion (as she called it). It stretched a little hamburger to feed 6 hungry, growing kids, and fed them well. This was a regular at our house, and to this day, I cannot stand to make it, but I will be d***ed if I don't enjoy it when my sister makes it and when my mom made it when we were adults (I did not want to even touch it for at least 15 years). And now, when I have it, I remember her and will joke and talk about the dish and my mom with my sister.

I am so sorry to hear that your mother passed away. It is so hard to lose a parent.

My thoughts and prayers are with you,Maria.

My Mom was 91 and had severe dementia when she passed 4 years ago.

My choice would be a big serving of beef stew with dumplings.

Maria, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Big hugs to you, Maria!!! You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. xoxo

(((Maria))) I am so sorry...

Losing your mom is the absolute worst. I lost mine when she was just 50, and I can tell you -- you never lose the feeling that she is there with you. My mom helps me find things I've lost, laughs with me as I remember crazy things that happened back then. She is annoyingly at times looking over your shoulder... Take some comfort in that, my friend.

So very sorry for your loss

Comfort food for me are the foods that remind me of my childhood, growing up.: things like meatloaf and mashed potatoes, garlic green beans, warm homemade bread with butter, roast chicken. Foods my Mom made, apple dumplings. And , of course, the ultimate comfort food, homemade chicken noodle soup!

Maria, how lucky you are to have had your mom for so many years.

My mom passed away at the young age of 52. I still think about her everyday.

You must have so many beautiful memories of you and your mom. Pull from them for your comfort, and eat a slice of good cheese. It works for me during a stressful time.

My deepest sympathy for your loss, Maria.

No special comfort food, maybe soup and grilled cheese. Take care of yourself.

So sorry for your loss Maria

I lost my mom when I was 26 and I still think of her every day. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. My favorite comfort food would be a chicken casserole with cheese, noodles and creamed soup, like chicken tetrazzini or maybe chicken divan.

Oh Maria, my heart is with you... Sending you a big bowl of buttery mashed potatoes

which is my family's comfort food.

After my stepdad passing away from dementia last year, I truly truly understand it all. I hope you are taking it easy and getting some rest and trying to remember the good times before her illness.

all my hugs...
