Day 10 without air conditioning. I'm starting to wonder why people think this is so fabulous...NOT!

After all the suffering, I declared this weekend a full fat, full carb holiday.

The results for your perusal...

Off to the movies! Air conditioned!!!!

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel!!! Swoon, what a glorious movie when accompanied by gallons of popcorn followed up with a sugar waffle cone from Graeters stuffed with chocolate almond coconut chip ice cream!!!!

A stop at the grocery on the way home for Yukon baby potatoes! (This is getting serious)

But first! A detour to the Duck Creek Antique Mall where after several hours of searching finally revealed an 1890 German humidor with a Dachshund on the lid looking up with a rakish grin as my dear Siegfried always did. After nearly a year of searching in the US, Germany, Czechia, Poland, and Austria, my dear little Siegfried finally has the home for his ashes that his noble life required.

But then!

The Carboliciousfest!

Le Menu--

Michael's FABULOOOOS Grapefruit and Basil Martinis.

Chicken Fried Pork Tenderloin Steaks (breaded with loving care since I don't get to do that these days and fried to a golden crispy crust and a juicy squirting interior in chicken fat and butter!!!)

Country Black Pepper Cream Gravy

Julia Child's Sauteed Potatoes *

Fresh Corn on the Cob with Fresh Basil Butter and Freshly Ground Black Pepper and Sea Salt

Birthday Cake from Graeters sitting in a pool of cream.

Chocolate Chip Cookies.

* The Julia Child Sauteed Potatoes.

Made these for the French dinner several months ago. How could anything so pedestrian be so sublime? That's why Julia put the recipe in the book. If you haven't made these, you haven't lived.

Good God Oh-Mighty!!!!

Erin, tomorrow's entry will be....

Happy.

I am happy. I am admiring Siegfried's new resting place. My belly is full of full fat and full carb food. It is hot. And humid. But I can run into the air-conditioned bed room at any momnent.

I miss NYC!!!

You know you have an invite!!! : ) I admire how you are handling the stress. I recall when

we lost power in Oct for 5 days. I was not a very nice person.... Seriously, not a nice person. I can't imagine being with out AC in this heat. You are handling it well.
dh thinks you should do 2 zoned AC/Heating, and get a few quotes.

A food-lover's dream day. Gravy! Fried food! Buttery popcorn! Ice cream!

And the best thing, a final resting spot for your dear Siegfried- such a find!

barb--where were you when we needed you....we lost our AC

for about a week--during our last hot spell.

Thanks to a great AC guy--it didn't last longer than that.

My sympathies go out to Richard.

Seriously?!! that is terrible! Glad the AC is up and running now, but seriously, you knew the

address!!~ You and Pat are always welcome...

Thought of you this weekend... I made your pasta salad. Always a hit! (tx again for a great recipe)

I can't find the link, mine was printed out from years ago. I believe it was from Green on Greene?

Best,
Barb
