When I looked at my food section this morning in the paper I thought

"Oh, what a great idea!" It was an article on how to turn all that candy that the kids got last night into something more nutritious. Now that's a good idea, right? Yeah, well one is making corn muffins and pushing A (as in one) "candy corn" onto the top of each muffin after they're cooked. Whoopee!!! Let me see, that will use.....12 of them! Wow! I've linked to the article and you can see the pictures of all the "goodies" they have come up with but they don't even have the recipes for all of them in article on line. The muffins and the cookies with 1 Hershey's Kiss on each one aren't even there. Is it just me or wouldn't you think they would come up with better uses?http://www.sun-sentinel.com/features/food/sfl-flhallowen2brnov01,0,1657191.story?page=1

I foun d the easiest way to save my son from the candy was to eat it myself.

It was tough, but I felt the sacrafice was worth it.

On the way to work, on the radio, I heard a suggestion to make a Snickers Cheesecake. less than 300

calories per slice. How many calories in one snack size Snickers? doesn't sound like a good alternative, although the cheesecake sounded yummy.

I think it was Carianna that posted a fun idea of making

a "cake" out of candy. Basically, it was a styrofoam 3 tier cake, from a craft store, with the candy mounted to the outside of the cake; using double sided tape. It was adorable! I plan on "making it" on Monday to celebrate a friends b-day.

I am not good at searches from Gails, but if you can find it, I believe, links and pictures were posted!

If it wasn't Carianna, Sorry for the memory loss!

Barb

I say wait till friday and saturday and let them eat all the candy they can. . . .

and hope they eat so much that they become sick and then, with luck, will not want any more of the stuff for months or years.

My kids could usually make just about any amount of candy disappear in about a week. If they made a LOT of candy dissappear in a week, they usually didn't whine for any more for QUITE a while.

Worked for me. . .

When my kids were smaller, they would leave their pumpkins

of candy out the night after Halloween for the "Candy Fairy" who would come and take their candy and leave them a toy in its place. (The candy either went to the break room at work, or got dumped). They loved it and didn't seem to miss the candy being gone.
