Where do you keep your Kitchen Aid and other kitchen appliances?

Where does everyone keep their kitchen appliances, especially larger items such as a kitchen aid?

I have a kitchen with very little counter space. I have an older microwave oven that takes up a bit of space, and I usually keep the toaster oven, ice cream maker, blenders, rice cooker, etc. in the cabinets and only pull them out when I need them. However, now that i've purchased a Kitchen Aid, it seems a bit heavier and a hassle to pull in/out of a cabinet. Yet, there's not much counter space for it?

I keep my KitchenAid on the counter. I definitely wouldn't want to pull it out of a cabinet every

time I needed it. I don't have a lot of counter space either, but have just enough room for my toaster oven, KitchenAid, toaster, food processor, rice maker, coffee maker, and blender, although, the blender sits behind the coffee maker, since I don't use it too often. I keep the rest of the stuff, such as my ice cream maker, in the cabinets. Luckily, I don't use a microwave - that would take up a lot of room on the counter.

I keep mine in the mudroom just off the kitchen...

I have little counter space and don't like to have any appliances on my counters so - they're all in cabinets. Except the kitchen aid -- it's in the corner on the counter in the mudroom. My mom made me a pretty cover for it (quilted with painted bird & birdhouse). So - it's "hidden". I don't think I'd put the mixer in a cabinet since it's so heavy unless the cabinet had sliding platforms to help get it in and out.

Hi Starburst! I keep mine in the pantry on the bottom shelf. Even tho my kitchen is newly...

remodeled which included some new square footage I still have very little counter space and can not keep the Kitchen Aid out. The remodel gave me some nice pantry space tho. I had them make the bottom shelf (I'm short so bottom shelf is fine) with enough height to store the mixer and blender. So far it has worked out very well. However, when I am home on the weekends I will often leave it out for weekend baking marathons.......

My kitchen is older but really big. I have 22 cupboards, a pantry and a ton of counter space. Mine

is on the counter along with most of the other appliances I frequently use. I'm told (by my sister) that I should keep the counters clear and store these in the cupboards but I tell her it's MY kitchen.

The only appliances I keep on my counter is my KA mixer and coffee pot and george forman grill

toaster, blender and the rest go in the cabinet.

On a wooden table with small wheels so that I can wheel it over to the

counter (same height as table) near the stove and hoist it onto the counter (bought the little table specifically for the KA so I wouldn't have to bend over and lift it out of a cupboard). I keep some pottery on the lower shelves along with some Cooks Illustrated issues.

I used to keep it in the garage, but then it was too inconvenient to drag it out, so I used another

(inferior) mixer instead. So I made up my mind and just put it out on the counter. I also had a counter top microwave, so it was quite a space sacrifice. Since then I havenused and enjoyed it quite a lot. Now that we have remodeled the kitchen and I do have much more counter space, it sits out. It was used when I got it 25 plus years ago and it is still going strong. Occasionally I am tempted to buy one of the new colors (mine is basic white) I think the older models are built better, so I'll remain faithful to mine!

Yours must be about the same vintage as mine. Does it have the solid

state control? That was introduced in 1978 and mine is from before that. Probably about 1975, which would make it 30+ years old. Still going strong though not used much anymore. I used to get it pretty heated up kneading bread.

I keep my kitchen Aid on top of the fridge...

Sometimes it's a pain in the butt to heft it down, but I really don't have a huge amount of counter space. I have a 20 inch TV and DVD player on the counter, my coffee maker, my tiny George Foreman grill, a toaster, 5 large crocks for untensils and my test tube spice rack. If I had more counter space, I would just buy more things to put on it!
