Where is everyone? Is anyone out there??? Check in!

I'm around waiting for the snow which will probably not come. I think

our weathermen are in the employ of Harris Teeter. Everyone is in there stripping the shelves of chili beans. Not me. I made a big vat of Caldo Verde and am about to pour a glass of wine and light my fireplace.

Hi Meryl - just crazy busy here. Had my first car accident yesterday (no one was hurt)

Roads were covered in ice and I had a very slow and low impact crash at a 4-way stop intersection. My car looks pretty bashed in (driver side) but thankfully neither driver was hurt. Well at least not from the accident. When I got out of the car (via the passenger side - couldn't open my door) and walked over to check on the other driver I slipped on the ice and ending up hurting my back and neck. Nothing that Advil can't handle though - I am so lucky.

The policeman that arrived on the scene was awesome - just wanted to ensure that we were both okay and no tickets were issued. I called his chief to say what a profession, caring man he was.

Today gone for the part of the day - taking our cat, Stooey, in for an ultrasound.

Meryl - can we catch up tomorrow?

Stuck indoors w/ a toddler. Would love to make biscotti. Zero time. Hope all are warm and safe! smileys/smile.gif

Would love to make anything outside our normal rotation. About the only thing I've actually cooked in the last week is pork tenderloin. On auto-pilot until March. I think I was a bear in a former life--all I want to do is hibernate!

Here! Visitors who frustrate the cook in me...

I want to fix breakfast but they nibble on a 1/2 muffin and coffee. I made a light supper of homemade tomato soup and ham/cheese toasted sandwiches. The guy barely tasted the soup and gave it to his wife. If we go out, they barely eat. (On the other hand, I need to stop with the 3-a-day full meals and lose weight!)
Let me add: they are lovely people and we enjoy their visits. I just wanna mother somebody!

Haven't been cooking much, slowly coming back...

my Dad passed due to complications of a stroke several months ago. He couldn't swallow, so every bit of food I took/take makes me feel guilty/grateful. Even his water had to be thickened to a pudding consistency, so gross.
I haven't paid much attention to food.... it's been tough.
So I can so appreciate what you are going through Meryl.

I want to thank everyone that has helped along the way,
with suggestions for frozen meals etc while he was alive. smileys/smile.gif
Much appreciated.
