Which of your cookbooks drop open to a frequently-used recipe? Here's mine:

This looks and sounds great. I will try it next weekend for the family. My son loves soba noodles

since he spent time in Japan and I can get him to make sushi so we can have a Japanese meal.

Unfortunately, I haven't opened a cookbook in a long time smileys/frown.gif

My cooking these days is so sad. I work 12+ hours a day and I find myself throwing stuff together when I come home. I'd give a ton to be able to spend a few hours in the kitchen soon smileys/smile.gif

Traca, I'm trawling through it and I know I've made a few of the muffins, but nothing, oh wait

here ya go...I add the whole recipe.

Crunchy Country Fries Ches Vous

3/4 lb small red potatoes, unpeeled
1/4 C butter, olive oil, or veg oil (or mix. I add bacon fat)
1 C red onions, finely chopped
1/2 tsp salt
fresh pepper
1 tsp minced garlic
1 TBL minced parsley
1 TBL sour cream

Parboil the potatoes until just tender, refrigerate until cold.

Cut into 3/4" cubes.

Heat large skillet (NOT non-stick), add butter and saute onion gently for 10 minutes. Add potato, salt, pepper and garlic. Cover with lid, turn down heat and cook for 10 minutes, turning potatoes occasionally. Remove lid and cook another 5 minutes until crispy on outside. Garnish with parsley and sour cream.

Sup'd up version
Fries
2/3 C sauteed mushroom with 1/2 tsp garlic in 1 TBL butter
1 tsp herb mix
1/4 C green onions
1/3 C cheese

Ooh! That looks good. I haven't gotten far past the Beaujolais coffeecake. I did make

the other one in there--the one with espresso powder. It's got the same texture as the other one but the espresso coffeecake was a little too bitter for me.

Question: Was there anything remarkable about the muffins you tried? I have yet to find a fabulous muffin.

Not that I remember. I usually have marks on the pages that I've used. I'm pretty happy with LaBrea'

bran muffin....using pureed dates.

I'm still trying to duplicate Dunkin' Donut's Triple Chocolate Muffin. It only comes out at this time of year and that puppy is 660 calories!

So I'm not trying too hard.
