Which should I make for a family of Italians: Charlie's or Gia's? Cannoli Cake

Marilyn, I'd make Charlies, because most Italian dessert recipes uses almond extract and orange zest

(actually the usage of Amaretto instead of almond extract is a much used ingredient in Italian baking, but.. definitely almond extract is a great substitute). Those tend to be the better recipes when using almond extract and orange zest.

I have tried recipe's from Charlie and they have been all good.

My sister's mother in law, born in Italy and came here when she was 28 yrs old, (wonderful wonderful woman, we all loved her dearly) was an exceptional cook and baker. About 20 yrs ago or so... she knew I enjoyed cooking, especially Italian, so she helped me a lot and she advised me that most Italian pastries that are good ~ use grated orange in their recipes, how I would know most were authentic.

Lucia taught me how to make canoli's ~ and I'm close to hers and two: she helped me improve on my Minestrone soup (though her's was far more superior by a long shot than mine). She taught my sister too how to cook many Italian dishes too.

So looking at both recipes I'd go with Charlies.
