I have resisted attempting to make these wonderful looking little cakes as I don't want to order the special pan. could I use a muffin pan? I have cast iron, cushionaire, aluminum pans. Also, would regular pancake batter work? They sell a pancake mix and I wondered if it would work better for this recipe!

Call me a tightwad, but I just HATE pans with one use only and don't like mixes as they taste like chemicals.

I love my ebelskiver pan! Bought it at WS outlet for $14.95. I've made them filled

with chocolate, guava, maple cream, and chicken curry. Lovely, and lots of fun!

I did not know either! Uh Oh! No excuse now to avoid all sorts of one use gadgets!

Please don't tell me where they are located!!

Thanks Karen. I didn't know if the pan was absolutely necessary for shape.

I don't care how they look, just that they seal properly as they bake.

Arriba, if you like to cook Indian cuisine, and do end up buying an ebelskiver pan,

you can use it to make paniyaram.

I know, I know, most of you are saying "WHAT"? Paniyaram is a kind of bread that is made from dosa or idly batter in South India. The batter is made from fermented rice and dal. You put a little oil in the indentations in the pan and then pour in the batter.
