Worried for our Florida folks and hurricane Irma. How are you doing?

Maria, I was just thinking the same thing.... That and our friends from Tx, although, I have to

admit, I can't think of a name... I associate names with recipes, not locations. But hoping the best for everyone impacted by this weather. Please check in.

Me too...sigh. I don't feel like going through this. It was easier

in the house than in this condo. No grill, generator for the fridge/freezer and on a lake where there was always a breeze, for instance. If we loose power it will be miserable so we'll have sandwiches mostly. John went to the store this AM and I told him to see if they sell those individual little packet of Mayo. They said no and to take from the deli area,,,,he did,,,ALLOF THEM! LOL

Also, didn't PatBastrop post a great list of paperwork to have on hand? Hard time searching...

my laptop was killed by the cat knocking a glass of water over on it the other day, so all I have is my phone right now.

I saw this tip, and thought it may be helpful..... If you leave your home, Freeze a cup of water

and set a quarter on top of it, and when you come home if coin is in the bottom of the cup, even if frozen you will know your food is not safe because it defrosted, and a thaw time that effects water defrosting , means food has too.

Thanks, Everyone, for your concern.

DH and DD are putting the plywood on the windows right now. I am SO thankful that DD is home to help him, my knees can't deal with those weights any more. We are quite nervous, but, I hope, fairly well-prepared. We have a gas grill with a hot plate, so can still cook (and have Coffee!) even if (when, really) our electricity goes out. We live just outside Orlando, so the danger is not as high as on the coast. I do hope everyone near the coast has evacuated.

Good luck, Orchid.

I am finding it less of an adventure as I get older, but we can get through this! Stay safe.

Th anks for checking in. I started to think maybe you went home

for the summer. It is much harder now and I know the loss of power will be the hardest for me. It's 91 today and 68% humidity. ugh Good luck to you.
