on them..apparently a cable was eaten by a rat...the only cable feeding the island, then the rub off .... the servers not working..and my phone did not work for 3 days. It is a blackberry.

Anyway it was one of my sprog's birthday and the weather was appalling, so much rain the roads were rivers (true story as there are no drainage etc and the side roads of dirt get washed onto the tarred roads) anyway we persevered.....we could not let anyone know we were running late because the phone service was down.... and arrived at the venue to be met by one agitated mother with young child...."you're late, hurry we should order, we were waiting for you.. etc, etc"...anyway the evening was great and the food good and my sprog had a wonderful time with all her friends...it was just after twelve when most families started home and I hung around for my DH and another sprog to say their goodbyes but needed the loo so slipped away in a rush down to the toilets passing my grandaughter (who was in a group of other kids)and called to her "Please let Pops know I am in the loo".....

I rushed in and shut the door AS I realized the door closed from the inside..NO windows and NO gap top of door and only a wee gap at the bottom...AND THE DOOR STUCK.......I was in there for almost half an hour...in the meantime EVERYONE had headed out to their cars and gone home.....my DH and youngest sprog were in the parking lot and they were calling goodbyes between my other two and their families and they were just realizing I was not with any of them....I in the meantime (first I did what I went there for as there was no way I could open the door first!! longest - longest agitating ever as you can imagine) then I tried lying on the floor and squeezed my fingers under the door...just...and tugged and tugged..then tried to turn and pull the door handle...and got hotter and sweatier...and tried to use the useless phone...started to shake and quake...it is lonely and deathly quite and shouting and calling made no impression on anyone as no-one was around.

And then the damn door just popped open!!!! 29 minutes later...it was dark and lonely there, restaurant was closed and locked up... so I made my way to the car park/road and found the families all sort of buzzing about to each other starting to plan where to look for me...NONE of them even had a thought of looking in the loos yet...

URGH.....

Amazing how the time went so fast..they thought it was about 5 mins but I know I was in there for 29 minutes.........NOT Pleasant.....the door was swollen with all the dampness in the air and the paint made it stick, apparently. I was having thoughts of having to sleep there, nose to the wee gap for fresh air...the whole night!!! DH said "We would have found you darling!!" The next day was our 42nd wedding anniversary...he better have found me!!!!

Oh, I'm sorry too, but also sorry for laughing way too hard... Priceless!

Marg, that was really funny!! Joanie, I would have been very scared; I am not a macgiver (sp), so

I know I would have been there all night, unless dh tracked me down. It must have been scary.

Yes guys, thanks. I am fine really and it is funny during daylight hours...

but in the darkness of the night I wake with a start...darn.....Marge, funny.....I don't think I can go to the loo with skis on can I? Or perhaps there are ;ski into building; kind of loos up there in the snow....with my luck I'd prolly ski up and fall in. Ha!
