Yesterday, I bought a 5 quart, 11-inch chef's pan at Bed, Bath and Beyond...

It was on sale for $19.99, I have their $5 off coupon, and there was a $10 mail-in-rebate. I ended up paying around $6-7 for a really nice pan. What I really like about it is that it sits flatly on my glass top stove top. It's a really nice pan, especially for the money. I think the brand name was something like Invitations. It in their weekly flyer they send out. I used it last night to make chicken ala king, and it worked like a charm.

Right now, Amazon has the Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 12-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid

on sale for $23.00, list price $168.00, if anyone is interested.

I'm on the mailing list for Simply Recipes, that not only sends out its daily recipe postings but has shopping alerts, including low priced KA mixers, though they are often reconditioned.
Simply recipes' url is: http://www.elise.com/recipes/

Although the alert for this pan was for yesterday, it's still listed at Amazon today.

I just call my BB&B and they have lots of this pan so I will be off (m)

tomorrow morn. to pick one up. thanks for the heads up, as I have been wanting a a deeper pan, like this. i had one piece of calphalon years ago
and it ended up at St. Vincent de Paul. could not get the darn thinkg clean, like I like.

I don't know. I haven't used calphalon for years. Maybe that's why it's $23. But the reviews I saw

were mostly positive. Some mentioned that things stick but love it anyway, others hated it. Others claimed the problems with food sticking started when the pans started being manufactured in China.

Used my new pan last night and it was great. Made pot roasted (m)

chicken.(cut up) Actually , I made up a recipe to use.
Brown the chicken, remove and set aside, add one large onion to the pan, saute a few minutes. Put the chicken back in the pan. I had a cup of fresh orange juice, so put that in. Used 2 1/2 tsp. ground ginger,(did not have any fresh) salt and pepper, soy sauce (did not measure) garlic powder, and then paprika to help the browning and adds flavor. Had no idea what this would taste like, but it was delicious. Served with rice and fresh green beans. Very easy clean-up for the pan. Great buy for $4.95, I would say!!!!
