Yesterday I made Cook's Illustrated's Quick Cinnamon Buns - they were great but a real PITA!....

The dough was so freakin' sticky, and almost impossible to work with. Someone on the Cook's Ilustrated Forum warned me about it, but never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be THIS sticky. I used so much extra flour, I thought they'd turn out tough - luckily they didn't. The biggest nightmare was when I had to turn the dough over seam-side down - the middle stuck and some of the dough tore open. Somehow I pulled it together. I was cursing my brains out the whole time.

Cutting the slices was also a horror - I even floured the knife! Plus, even though I baked them for the shorter time indicated, which was 23 minutes, the tops were completely browned, not just the edges. They were too hard on top for my taste, but luckily, the glaze ended up softening them up. The glaze was delicious - I used 2/3 cup confectioner's sugar instead of 1 cup.

Anyway, in the end, they tasted great, but I don't know if I'll ever make them again, for the sake of my sanity or whatever's left of it. I may try the Peter Reinhart ones next.
