You might be in the midst of Christmas cookie mania (read:geek) IF:

1. You haven't refrigerated butter or eggs for a week (room temp!)

2. Your dog chomps on your friend's thumb while she wrestles a dropped chunk of chocolate from his mouth, but you just point to the bactine and keep on rolling dough

3. You're actually surprised when you gently blow excess flour from dough and the enormous cloud settles on everything

4. You ooh and aah over how gorgeous the cookies are - and you're the one who decorated them

5. You are so enamored of your cookies that, much like garden zucchini in the summer, you deliver them to friends and neighbors even though you know they have their own

6. You have a box of Annie's mac and cheese for Sunday dinner because you didn't notice that this recipe baked for 20 MINUTES a batch - and had to forego the Sunday turkey dinner you planned

7. Your back aches and your knees are buckling and you wonder what Michael from Phoenix (xoxox) knows that you don't

Made me laugh. All I know is that there is no substitute for...

...planning ahead, making lists (checking twice, of course!) and doing as much ahead of time as possible.

Also, I have found that a lot of stress comes from my desire to accomplish something specific, and then not being able to do so. I now EXPECT to leave a few things on my list undone! I don't stress over it anymore, because as someone very wise on this board already pointed out, the holiday still comes out great whether or not I get all the projects done! It's not about ME, it's about Him, and the gathering of family and friends in a spirit of goodwill, festivity and love.

My $.02.

Peace to you all,

Michael

You are SO right. As much as we want to do everything, those we love never notice the "undone" stuf
