Recipe Software - Which One???

I have been using Living Cookbook for as long as I can remember because it lets me do everything I want - store recipes, print a cookbook, scale recipes, pantry, nutrition, etc. Well, the guy that did it has stopped - look like he got a divorce and things went to hell in a handbasket right after he introduced the last version. He doesn't even return inquiries. I am not interested in something that comes with recipes.
Any suggestions - what are the rest of you using?

It looks like livingcookbook site has gotten hacked too with links to casino being injected. That is rough. I've used a few desktop recipe software over the years but now I basically just come here or look on the Net for whatever I need. You can actually bookmark anything on this site and the bookmarks are collected in your profile. I could put something here for storing your own recipes with that functionality you mentioned, but I don't think we have enough people participating to support it.

I subscribed to Mastercook several years ago and even though it said it was easy to import the stuff from other programs including Living Cookbooks, it was not and I am fairly computer literate. I reached out and they did help and did it for me basically and it still had issues and didn't import correctly. I did not renew although it did have a lot of good features and they were trying to bring all the elements together including apps and web access to your personal collection.
I think I might be one of the few that still wants to keep the recipes I use in one place and to be able to put the ones family and friends are familiar with and ask about into a printable/downloadable cookbook. I have started using the bookmark on here but there are still all those old family recipes from index cards and clippings....
 
Take a picture with your phone and send to a document file. That way you have it in the handwriting of the person.

I am trying (again) to put together family gifts of aprons with a special recipe from a grandmother or an aunt (my very loved sister). I think I have the process worked out for an Iron on.
 
I use the “copy me that” app and browser extension because it can pull right off the web. I know some liked paprika, and I bought it, but it can’t do as much as cmt. So I abandoned it. I finally upgraded to the paid version a few years ago. Also, I believe, though haven tried it (I should) allows you to download everything to your computer. Handy if you want to save as your own files, or if they ever are going to go out of business. I’ve been very happy with it.
 
I use Copy Me That and really like it. I also have Paprika which I used for a time while Copy Me That was having some issues with the Apple Store. That has since been resolved and I prefer CMT to Paprika, but both work similarly. I used Living Cookbook for years and got burned from it when they went out of business. I had a hard drive issue and could not reinstall the program and could not import by backup into another software or get it in a readable format. I ended up doing a bunch a research and found a third part utility someone had written to salvage my database of over 1,000 recipes. Since then, I routinely export my Copy Me That database so I will have it in a usable format in case of disaster.

I am yet another vote for Copy Me That! And if you upgrade to the Premium version (I do think that the creators should be rewarded for their work), you can download recipes to your computer. It's easiest if done by section (category). I try to add to my Tried & True whne I find keepers and that would be what I would keep first.
 
I used Mastercook for years, but wanted to have one that synced between different devices. I have switched to Paprika which allows me to download a recipe and have it come up on my iPad and iPhone. I was able to transfer all of my recipes from Mastercook with no problem. After 5 years of using Paprika I still love it.
 
I've been using the early /beta version of the Arc browser. Up until now you basically have to submit an application to be considered to use it. I have been using it for a while and consider it my browser of choice now and for the future. It has a feature called Easel. Which is sort of like a shared (or private) image capture/white board. You can take a screenshot right from the browser of any part of a web page (like a recipe) and it also maintains the original link. Once you create an easel you can determine if the easel is only for you or if it can be shared with others. You can also set it to be edited by others. So for example a group of us could add recipes to an easel. So two things:
  1. They sent me an email today with 5 invites as part of preparing to ramp up users and ultimately do a public launch. So if you want to use it (free) and get approved quick, let me know and I'll send you one of the invites. I would not make this offer if I didn't believe this was a legitimate quality option - in my opinion the best browser and it is not even a finished product yet.
  2. I setup this easel as a sandbox to use/play with. For now I made it editable by anyone with the link. I believe anyone on any browser could open it but to actually use / edit it you'll need the Arc browser. Here is the link. I'll leave it up unless it gets abused (since this is public) but if enough of us were using arc we could also make group easels that we only shared in a group of us.

I'd love to, but time constraints would keep me from using it fully just yet, especially recipe capture.. So if the other five users will let us know what they think, it would be great.
