Cake boards...when did they get SO EXPENSIVE!

These are the 1/2" thick cake boards...for display purposes, not the thin ones used for support. I used to buy them all the time at the Cake and Candy supply store in Orlando and they were between $1-$2 each. But no such supply store exists in Asheville, so I'm reduced to using Michael's for baking supplies.

Here is what they wanted for TWO BOARDS:

Even with 30% off, it's still obscene amount for a covered piece of foam board.
I ended up ordering them off Amazon (7 for $17) which was the best price, but also means I now have 6 more boards than I wanted.

Do you remember when you bought all those paper loaf pans? That was a fun time and I have thanked you every time I used them. I still have one and it would be a pretty special occasion to get it into the oven.

Good lawd! I did buy a couple new ones from my local cake supply store for the bb shower cake, but goodness, they weren’t that expensive! They had gone up though and they didn’t have the supply of things they once had. (Example, I couldn’t get the blue shade of food coloring I wanted.) She told me they’d really been struggling *still* with supply chain issues since the pandemic. Orders like that blue food coloring were placed, but for months and months, never show up. I guess I should consider myself lucky they are still in business. The other local cake supply store, decades in business, went under in the pandemic.
