Speaking of gravy…I’d been wondering what this gadget was…

It was my aunt’s and somehow I ended up with it. Seemed to be the world’s smallest cocktail shaker. It’s one cup at the rim.

So the other day, in a fit of kitchen organizing fury, I decided to see what the internet thought it was, and most said cocktail shaker, but one said gravy shaker. That’s how my mil made gravy!, though she used a jar. Gravy shaker and measuring cup (the other side has quarter cup lines). I guess.

I have never heard of this process. I wonder how well or simply it works. And why? Does anyone still do this?

My mom always made milk gravy for turkey and chicken. (I still do)

My mil taught me to put flour and liquid into a jar, then shake to blend w no lumps before adding it to pan drippings for gravy.
