A bit of FRC mixed in with other "stuff". I told our friends I would ask the smartes group I have

Sure--its www.1800bepetty.com, then click on tracks

then scroll down for Las Vegas Motor Speedway. I see it went up to 99.00 smileys/frown.gif There are more expesive and thrilling options too. I did it for a group of 50 for one of our meetings 3 years ago and people still talk about it.I think he will love it. And BTW, I am glad we are talking as I made your caponata and I have to say it is one of the best tasting things I've ever made!! smileys/smile.gif Also, we go to Hawaii every year (Oahu and Big Island) we may try Kauai this year smileys/smile.gif

My favorite thing I did in LV

was the 4-D Omnimax Haunted House flick at Luxor (who should be ashamed of their pool, IMHO. The pool at Caesar's is wonderfully over the top). The roller coaster ride through hell being chased by all the monsters and demons was unbelievable! I'd love to see that movie again. Anyone know if it's still there?

The winter garden at Bellagio is not to be missed as well.

My second favorite thing about visiting LV was getting in the car and driving to Zion National Park. What a beautiful part of the planet. It is enchanting. On the way to Zion, stop for lunch at Calamity's Market-N-More (168 & I-15 in Moapa) for incredible burgers and chicken fried steak dinners. Total dive, but you'll get a heapin' helping of the local color and the food is really good! You'll plan your meals around it for the return trip. We did! LOL

We did. It's about a 2.5 hour drive from Vegas. At the park, they have a bus tour that takes

you to the highlights of the Park. You can no longer drive through it, so the cadre of shuttle buses gives a nice tour, you can get on and off as you wish for exploring.

No. I stayed two nights and sandwiched it...

between starting and ending in LV. It was a wonderful break from the madness. The Best Western Lodge at the park entrance is a great bargain with big clean rooms and balconies with views of the mountains. The Zion shuttle bus picks you up right in front of the lodge and takes you into the park. The Pioneer Restaurant on the main drag is a very homey comfort food kind of place to eat with home-baked pies and big steak dinners with all the trimmings--just what you want after a day of hiking in paradise. The food at the Zion Lodge in the park was surprisingly good too.

Lisa I was posting at the same time and your

post was there after I posted. Didn't want it to sound like I was contradicting you, just saying that I didn't do it in one day.

Thank you! So glad you liked the Caponata too-

Are you a meeting planner? I used to work for an incentive company as one- just curious.

Thanks for the info- I will go to the site.

Really glad you liked the Caponata- it is a staple around this house. I use it for all kinds of things.

If you decide on Kauai, let me know- if you need questions answered, I'll be glad to help- it is still the most beautiful of islands (well, fine, okay, I am prejudiced.)

I do some planning

as part of my job as marketing manager. The bigger groups go through a different dept in the company. I have always loved that business though. I've often thought I would like to do that when I "semi" retire. :)Convention services ground staff type stuff.
We were on Kauai many years ago, and liked it very much. Then we met folks that live on the Big Island and fell in love with it too. We will move to HI someday,I am sure. smileys/smile.gif

Yeah, I loved that work too but as a planner I often had 12 programs going at the same

time- it was a crazy job. I spent time as a trip director too, and just as on-site ground staff as well. It gets in your blood. I was on the road 90% of the time for a few years and when I couldn't remember where I was when I woke up in the morning, it was time to quit. I knew it was a Hilton by the drapes and room decor but couldn't remember what city I was in! Goodbye, road.

Come to Kauai! We can meet up and tell road stories. Let me know if you need info on anything island-wise.

LOl, reminds me of the time

I woke up, same thing, had NO idea where I was and opened up the drawer to check the stationary. Same thought too, time to quit!! smileys/smile.gif
Your invite sounds good!! smileys/smile.gif Will keep you posted on our trip!! smileys/smile.gif
