A free Starbucks 12 oz coffee Tuesday Nov 4th, if you vote.

Darn, I missed all these freebies... I worked at the polls yesterday - a 15-hour day!!

Oh well, only once a year. Did they really give out "I voted" stickers? We didn't.

I don't think that would be illegal, because they aren't rewarding you for voting *for* a certain

candidate, just for voting.

Same here. Tipped the cost of the coffee and resisted my favorite scone.

I love the pumpkin scones, but I am bad, I only eat the frosting off, with the attached scone, and discard the rest. My favorite and less calories. If anyone has this recipe, I would love it.

Nordstroms had a fab lemon poppyseed iced cookie too, and I can't find it anymore either.

We used to bring them back from Seattle for my DH's assistant for an easy gift. she just loved them.

Ang...how long ago was that? Would you believe I just met the head chef for Nordstrom cafes?

I wonder if he could find the recipe in their archives?

Speaking of Nordstroms...have you seen their cookbooks? Lovely. And lots of my favorite recipes are in there.

Dawn, try these and see how close they come.

not T&T by me yet...but they've been on my list to try after a friend made some Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins for me (I think I posted those here too).

Starbucks Pumpkin Scones Recipe #214051
These are great for the holidays...or any other time of the year. Recipe originally submitted at icollectcookbooks.com by Rachel-Snachel

30 min | 15 min prep
6 scones

Scones
2 cups all-purpose flour
7 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
6 tablespoons cold butter
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
3 tablespoons half-and-half
1 large egg

Powdered Sugar Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon powdered sugar
2 tablespoons whole milk

Spiced Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
2 tablespoons whole milk
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 pinch ginger
1 pinch ground cloves

TO MAKE THE SCONES:.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Lightly oil a baking sheet or line with parchment paper.

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and spices in a large bowl. Using a pastry knife, fork, or food processor, cut butter into the dry ingredients until mixture is crumbly and no chunks of butter are obvious. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, whisk together pumpkin, half and half, and egg. Fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Form the dough into a ball.

Pat out dough onto a lightly floured surface and form it into a 1-inch thick rectangle (about 9 inches long and 3 inches wide). Use a large knife or a pizza cutter to slice the dough twice through the width, making three equal portions. Cut those three slices diagonally so that you have 6 triangular slices of dough. Place on prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 14–16 minutes. Scones should begin to turn light brown. Place on wire rack to cool.

TO MAKE THE PLAIN GLAZE:.
Mix the powdered sugar and 2 tbsp milk together until smooth.
When scones are cool, use a brush to paint plain glaze over the top of each scone.
AS THAT WHITE GLAZE FIRMS UP, MAKE THE SPICED ICING:.
Combine the ingredient for the spiced icing together. Drizzle this thicker icing over each scone and allow the icing to dry before serving (at least 1 hour). A squirt bottle works great for this, or you can drizzle with a whisk.

Thanks Pat, I will give them a try. However whenever I see the word pastry knife

I get a bad feeling in my stomach. Just like rolling pin, acckkkkkkkkkkkkk!

I buy their cookbooks for wedding gifts since it's a regional favorite. No luck with those cookies

for at least the past year. We once had them up here in Anchorage and I about fell over, but that was probably more than a year ago. They are light yellow, lemony dense sugar cookies with poppyseeds and a very light icing. Just heavenly. Please beg him to make them again. They must be good for us to bring them all the way back up here, and then portion them out very stingily.

No worries, you can use a fork or food processor, and there's no rolling pin involved. You'll do

great!) Let us know how you like 'em, and how close you think they are to what you had.

thanks pat. I'd like to make some to give to the gal for xmas. It was a

little sinful treat though, every time we visited Seattle, to go get a coffee and cookie for midmorning snack---you know, to build up stamina for more shopping. The pink cookies are just not the same as those lovely lemon ones.
